CLUB, SOCIETY AND VILLAGE REPORTS
Great Mongeham Horticultural Society The Annual General Meeting of the Society took place on 7th November. After making his report, the Chairman Peter Aplin, thanked his committee members for their dedicated support and also all members for their participation and help in all activities. The accounts were presented and adopted. As all the committee members were willing to continue, they were re-elected en bloc by a unanimous vote. The officers will remain unchanged this year, although both Chairman and Secretary have signified a wish to stand down next year.
We shall be unable to be with you for the Christmas Party but hope you have a great time and a Happy Christmas and New Year. Joyce Blee
St. Martin’s W.I. January will see members taking part in six Crazy Quilt sewing sessions with Prue Bell and should finish up with an interesting jacket.
St. Martin’s W.I. is offering, anybody five to ninety five, the chance to learn to sew, knit or even crochet. The classes will be in the Christian Centre side Hall on Thursday, 17th January at 7 pm for six weeks. Please telephone 01304 364769 if you would like to come along. You do not have to belong to the W.I. to come, learn and enjoy the skill. PSB
Great Mongeham Society A very well attended Annual General Meeting, elected Jim Rees as Chairman, Steve Chappell as Treasurer and Joyce Blee as Secretary with a full committee. Jim thanked retiring Chairman, Brian Knight for all his hard work over the last three years. Nigel May gave a very interesting talk on photography, illustrated with his own shots. Members enjoyed the village photograph quiz and the Bowsher’s Aptitude Quiz.
The Christmas decorations will be in the Parish Hall from 1st December. The Trustees wish every one, a Happy Christmas and Joyful New Year. PSB
Great Mongeham Art Show Although there were fewer visitors this year, the event still made a reasonable amount of money for the Friends of St. Martin’s who run the show to raise funds for the Church.
Appreciation and thanks are due to Brian Knight who is now retiring from the running of the show and who, for the last 16 years, has been a stalwart support of the event, including hanging endless pictures and generally being in the right place at the right time to keep the show on the road. Sylvia Bowsher
Pilates The Friday Morning class held in the Parish Hall has now be cancelled.
District Council News At this time of year we would like to wish all of our residents a Happy Christmas. The year has been a busy one. In local issues we continue to work with the Parish Council to support the development of the village, in keeping with the needs of the local community.

Elsewhere the negotiation of the new waste contract to include plastics and cardboard in the kerbside recycling, is high on the list of priorities.
We also welcome the work of the weekly drop in at the Parish Hall and would encourage all residents to pop into this event.
We hope all our residents have a safe festive period and that the New Year is a fulfilling one.
Best Wishes. N ick and Steve
The Kent and Medway Biological Records Centre (KMBRC) is a charity which was set up in May 2003. Their objectives are to collect, collate and disseminate wildlife information specifically for Kent, which will be available to anyone with an interest, including conservationists, developers, academics and the general public.
The KMBRC is always on the look out for new records throughout the County—not just rare or threatened species, information to include birds, foxes, rabbits, fish, plants, trees, mushrooms etc. They are interested in records for single sites (people’s gardens). If you are able to help please contact Irene Folliot, Recording Support Office KMBRC Tel. 01622 685 780 or E Mail firstname.lastname@example.org
We take this opportunity of thanking our Proof Reader, Carol Greener and all those who kindly deliver your Newsletter throughout the year—your help is much appreciated.
